About this deal

One slight downside is that the more you ramp up the volume, the more likely it is that you’ll lose out on things like bass clarity.

There’s also a handy case included, so you can keep everything tucked away when you’re not using it.You might notice audio occasionally cutting off from one unit if you have multiple devices connected. Yes, the Wonderboom is bigger than the Minirig Mini - it's about twice the size, in fact - but it is still very small in its own right and is certainly very portable. Most of the time, the tiny travel speakers suck so unbelievably bad that I just opted to use my laptop or phone. The appearance and durability of the MiniRig 3 portable are among the first things you’ll notice when evaluating this speaker.

Minirig Speakers Support | Minirig Speakers

Minirig claims you’ll get approximately ten hours of battery life from the speaker before it needs charging again, with a full charge taking two to three hours. This seems so simple, but it provides the fullest, richest, deepest listening experience in this kind of form factor. It looks and feels like it’ll survive just about anything, and based on our experience of using the original Minirig for nearly five years and having it still be spotless, we’d suggest those looks aren’t deceiving. This keeps the speaker from sliding off a smooth surface and provides a little bump protection on the base. Loads of high-end stuff were set out for us to play about with; the usual headphones, amps, DACs, and DAPs littered the tables; it was a nerds paradise. For instance, it’s nice to know that you can link multiple speakers to the same system and create a stereo surround sound effect. I don't tend to cover Bluetooth speakers here at Audiophile On, but companies send a lot to our offices.

But, once in a while, you’ll find a small speaker that punches well above its weight to rival the sound of the larger speakers. Finding a good balance of build quality, portability, battery life, and sound quality is a nightmare, but the Minirigs seem we have seen to date. It managed to get louder and maintain a high level of detail before any JBL, Gear4, or Taotronics units started to distort.

Remember, what you’re getting here isn’t a full-size set of monitors with their own dedicated tweeters and subwoofers. Everyone loves bass, we decided to take the Subwoofer to the next step, rather than the old 30 watts of power it now has 40 watts of power!
