I honestly haven’t read much new manga lately. I’ve spent most of my time reading non-graphic novels and non-fiction books, so my manga reading list has grown steadily longer, causing much anxiety. Also, because I tend to read series when I buy them, it’s taken me ages to get through manga these days. That’s been the main reason behind the delay in Dorohedoro updates, and why I haven’t written a review of Witch Hat Atelier even though I really love it. I’m just following everything very slowly and buying volumes when I can. I must say though that the sexist roles taken get a bit annoying. The expectations of secretaries, the fact that they are all females and all board members, etc are men gets frustrating. So I was less than a fan about the stereotypical roles shown of everyone. This is part two of a three part novella series & begin's right where part one left off. I am absolutely in love with this series. This story is highly intriguing & you will not be able to put it down. The characters are compelling & the plot is captivating. A must read paranormal romance. That's Kyouhei Touma*. And, yes, he's a jerk, but he's also a major book crush of mine. Hey, at least I'm self-aware!!

This manga series is for mature audience readers only. Oh my! While the last volume has some mature content this one is much more geared to adult manga fans. Office, vampire romance here we go! I definitely need to read more of Tomu Ohmi’s works, because Midnight Secretary was a real treat. A perfect series to read over the holidays. I just wish it was longer, and that the last volume was developed a bit more, as certain lose ends got tied up a bit too conveniently.

Sinceramente este tomo me ha parecido aburrido. La trama es inexistente y las escenas son repetitivas. Siempre repiten como ella es la secretaría de un vampiro y como se alimenta de ella porque su sangre es “especial”. Lo único bueno de este tomo, es que Touma se da cuenta de que la ama. No desea su sangre o sus habilidades como secretaría, la desea a ella. Sin embargo, sigue acostándose con otras mujeres para alimentarse y es un poco molesto ✨ Even in this first volume, that serves to set up our characters, their predicament and the beginning of their unlikely romance, you can sense that this is a story with a lot of heart, about a woman making a hard man see that loving is not a weakness, and that admitting "defeat" doesn't damage your pride. I’m a junkie for this series. After reading book one, I went through withdrawal symptoms waiting for part two to come out. I tried to be patient but you know how it is when you become so attached to a book series, patience goes out the window. I fantasized various scenarios (some outlandish, most super-sexy) and when I finally read part two (in one sitting), Erin Bedford blew my freakin’ mind! One thing that did really work for me is that Midnight Secretary is a manga about adults. I’ve been getting really into anime and manga over the past few years, but I’m always frustrated when the vast majority of stories seem to revolve around high school and teenage characters. I prefer reading about grown-ups doing grown-up things, especially when there’s romance involved. So the fact that Midnight Secretary is about career-driven adults who sometimes need to drink blood is nice. But, nothing goes as planned for either of them. He swears that she means nothing to him, but rushes to rescue her as soon she is in danger. She swears that that she will never return to her prior position in his office, but rushes to his apartment when told that he needs blood, willing to give him her blood, body, and heart.

Great characters, great development. They pass trough all stages of love like denial, fury, acceptance and mutual affection. In work they know what they are there for and at night they know it too. Humans have human troubles, but the vampires doesn't share them. They have other affairs, usually even more serious. And their behavior is pretty realistic.Review- Not a lot happens in this volume other than we see Kyohei finally come to terms with the fact that he is in love with Kaia and that he's going to have to deal with that. We do get to see exactly how competent Kaya is and running both the secretarial group for her new company and still managing all of Kyohei affairs at night. At the end of the volume it is revealed that Kyohei has left his father's company to create one of his own. He feels that it is time for him to move on and that he has repaid the debt he owes his family. Of course he wants Kaya to come and be his secretary there but as she has contracted to work at the new company for a year she is currently refusing. It will be interesting to see where the story goes in the next four volumes.
