About this deal

The effects in this unit are time-based mainly [a lot of Choruses, Delays, Reverbs, phaser, flanger...] and some extra goodies [such as Guitar and Bass EQs and a noise reduction that works like a charm]. You start building your own pedalboard from scratch. You get the basic pedals you need for your core sound/tone first [assuming you already know what you want]. The Zoom MS70CDR’s compact, easy-to-use design features a large LCD screen, single footswitch and analog-style cursor keys/parameter knobs. Together, they allow you to easily control the pedal’s 86 diverse effects types, including some of the world’s most popular chorus, delay and reverb pedals (SuperCho, AnalogDly, Spring, etc.), as well as create and store up to 50 of your own sounds. You can't midi control the parameters (so no performance/automation... take that said filter, it's not that useful if I can't tweak it while something is going through the pedal - despite the filter being not up to my taste) and, afaik, you can't even theak two parameters at the same time (even on the same effect inside the fx chain)... it's a sort of "set it and forget it" device, not something you can "play". Whether or not the pedal has amp simulation is an important factor, as amp modelling is difficult and taxing on a DSP chip. As a result, normally at the budget end of the market you wouldn't expect to see decent amp modelling.

The MS-3 can even be used to switch the channels on an amp as part of its patch switching, for extra flexibility. It has a number of "useful" pedals such as limiters, EQs, and compressors (though I've not had a chance to see how effective those actually are yet) On the other hand, you may already have Chorus. Delay and Reverb units in your pedalboard but are somewhat curious about what it would sound like to pair them with - lets say - 6 extra choruses or 6 delays or any other mix of time based effects the CDR is full of. That’s a major sacrifice, considering that the MS series pedals do this pretty well. Very experienced guitarists will obviously not be satisfied with the clones, but the distortion/overdrive sounds have a crap-ton of variety and they sound good just as their own personalities. Showcasing a large user-friendly LCD interface, a singular footswitch and stylish analogue-inspired control knobs, navigation has never been so easy for guitarists during any scenario thrown your way with the MS-70CDR!The latest version has 137 effects and 50 user patches (says the box on mine, firmware 2.0, but mine actually has firmware 3.0...).I think I have the 50G running on the latest too, I had to update it from 2.0. from what I can tell, the 50 and 70 are basically the same except the 70 has stereo in. you can't get all the FX onto the unit at the same time, it seemed to me. so you have to choose what to put in there. I'm not sure if you can put the bass amps in though. or maybe you can but I just didn't. I'd have put it all on if I could I suppose. also some of the other FX take more DSP, so you hit the DSP limit faster. Some of the effects are too similar to others. It would have been better to combine a few of them into-one and increase the parameter settings (to save scrolling through and exploring separate pedals)

Remove effects that are similar to each other. Here are some ideas, up to you what you want to keep or get rid of. I suggest testing them and letting your ear decide. This applies to the MS-70CDR but the same general idea goes for the other pedals too. If you have an MS-50G or MS-60B, note that you should NOT remove "CMN_DRV.ZDL" from your MS-50G, and you should NOT remove "CMN_BASS.ZDL" from your MS-60B. It's a useful pedal, it's nice to have one, as long as you know the limitations and don't expect it to do what it can't do... I have it, but I don't use it much to be honest. If you are installing any DRIVE and AMP effects on the MS-70CDR, you MUST install the file "CMN_DRV.ZDL" on your MS-70CDR. This is the "Common Drive" file that you won't see on your pedal's menus, but it is needed for Drive and Amp files to work. If you want to try an updated version that's a bit better with some of the MS-60B effects, get it here, but you have to have the latest Java Runtime Environment installed. Round out your sound with your choice of two different graphic equalizers—one optimized for guitar and the other optimized for bass—and with Zoom's Noise Reduction (ZNR) algorithm, designed to remove noise during pauses while still maintaining your instrument's natural tone. Key Features You get one of these units and replace all your individual time-based pedals for this handy little box... because they sound quite good [and the single sized box takes less realestate on your pedalboard].

In this way, the MS-3 can be used either as the starting point to a small, flexible board, or the final pedal to round one off. For me it was a stepping stone into the world of pedals, but i have since sold it to buy dedicated pedals with higher quality output. When you start to pair it with high-end pedals you start to notice the difference in output pretty fast. And all of a sudden this brave little multitool that felt like magic before now started to feel like the weakest link in the chain, dragging the sound quality down.Soon enough you find the quality of the effects in this little box are pretty good and you give it a place in your pedalboard to goof around with it. I pair this with a Tonex pedal for amp and overdrive modeling, and with those two I have an entire guitar rig in just two affordable pedals - no big amps or speakers or huge boards to lug around to practice or gigs. The value is off the charts here. If you follow the links below and end up buying, we get a small commission which helps to keep this
