The front, top and sides of the bag are made with 420D ristop Nylon, this has become the industry standard for high quality and durable, weather resistant bags. F-Stop’s ICUs are interchangeable and you can actually use a number of different ICUs in the pack at once.

Although the Tilopa has a huge 50 Litre capacity (More than most camera bags), the gatekeeper straps and additional attachment options (Metal D-Rings, Molle attachments, compression straps and elasticated attachment points) mean you can carry a huge amount of gear on the outside of the pack, such as a tripod, hiking poles, a tent, a water bottle, an Ice Axe, a helmet and even crampons!

Ending this review with the same question as I ended the last review with… is this the perfect camera bag? With the Tilopa being as full as it is once laden with photographic gear, I can’t help but think that it’s a case of “jack of all trades but master of none”. A lovely bright colour is often appreciated by those that spend time in the mountains, while the gorgeous Cypress Green is perfect for wildlife photographers that want to keep a low profile. lens, Hasselblad 501cm, Sekonic light meter, film, batteries, a 16″ MacBook Pro, and a 3 Legged Thing Billy 2. It brings a whole new level with well over twice the padding and “cushiness” on both the hip and shoulder straps.Obviously we will all have different ideas of what that is but that’s the beauty of the f-Stop system, we can each use it to create our own perfect backpack… as long as the components available are suitable for the task. The ICU comprises the core of a bag-within-a-bag system which, as regular readers will know, is something I’m not terribly fond of.
