Producing the film are Danny Perkins, Kate Solomon and Jane Hooks. Executive producers include Take That themselves, Damian Jones of DJ Films, Tobias Gutzwiller of SPG3, David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers who produced the original musical, and Joe Naftalin. [1] It’s about friendship and the power of the songs they loved. The band and the bits are secondary; it’s about the fans who loved them." The boys will always be Rachel’s support system," explains leading lady Aisling. "She may not have needed them as much lately as she did before, but when she does need them, they are always there for her. Even when sometimes she wishes they weren't!"

Tim Firth wrote the musical, which began touring in 2017, and told the Daily Mail about the story: "A tragedy happens, then we jump forward 25 years to see the women those girls became and they realise they were fools to have been apart for so long. Coky Giedroyc’s engaging musical film, Greatest Days, made its anticipated debut on the big screen on June 16th, 2023. This is because the movie was made in collaboration with a streamer — so we doubt any physical releases are on the cards.

In the present day, 25 years on, the friends reunite for one more epic show by their beloved band and discover their lives have all changed in many different ways. Can they relight their friendship after all these years? It puts a mirror on our audience – it’s a celebration of our music but it’s literally all about the fans and their friendships. Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald will executive produce the film, just as they did for The Band. It's also been revealed that the boys will be performing live at the incredibly special London premiere of the film on Thursday 15th June. The musical numbers come often and for any Take That fans, Greatest Days is a sure treat. The numbers are impressively staged and a slightly more risqué number, which takes place on a bus, is a highlight. A later, quieter rendition of ‘Patience’ is also potent in how it manages to communicate years of pain and longing.

Adapted from the stage musical The Band (now renamed after the movie and on a UK tour), Greatest Days isn't exactly subtle in its approach. It's clear that something devastating happened 25 years ago, and it's fairly obvious what it was even though it's kept for a late-stage reveal. After a life-changing event sees the young girls go their separate ways, they reunite 25 years later, when Rachel wins a local radio competition to see the boys on their reunion tour in Greece. Greatest Days follows 16-year old Rachel and her gang of four best friends from Clitheroe, Lancashire — Debbie, Claire, Zoe and Heather — who become firm friends through their shared love of a boyband they watch religiously on Top Of The Pops every week. Robbie Williams and Mark Owen reunite as they sit in Robbie's kids' high chairs: 'Babies of the band!' The boys in the band are being played by newcomers Aaron Bryan, Dalvin Cory, Joshua Jung, Mark Samaras and Mervin Noronha.
