About this deal

Biggest of all, the positioning of loot has been reworked to prevent players handing themselves an easy win through shrewd – and cheap – placement tactics. Players take turns positioning loot tokens after terrain setup, but may only place tokens in their opponent’s half of the table. A well armed soldier with a basic amount of training. They carry Carbines, have Heavy Armour and carry a knife too. Bombshell minis, who do really great sculpts for their game Counterblast. Retro 60-70’s sci-fi. I was very tempted but in the end wanted more modern scifi. These large robots are designed to kill. They have plenty of armour, health and will power. They also can’t be controlled by a character player. Coming as a surprise to no one, Stargrave is simply Frostgrave in space, swapping arcane wizards and frozen ruins for crews of struggling galactic adventurers, and running on a similar miniatures-agnostic rules system (although a line of officially-licensedminisis coming from North Star).

But wait! Are you still unable to get to your LGS or play Stargrave with your gaming group? Never fear. Tomorrow, we’ll be releasing the Stargrave solo rules Dead or Alive so no gamer will be left behind.A skirmish wargame set in a dangerous galaxy where players command a small crew of adventurers hunting for loot, while trying not to call too much attention to their activities. Another entry also in the Random Encounters table. As the name suggests. A Bounty Hunter. Typically armed with a Carbine, Hand Weapon and Heavy Armour. If you aren’t familiar with the manga/film/TV series, Kusanagi would work as a cyborg captain, using camouflage and combat powers to lead from the front (or perhaps from behind the enemy?). What I like to do with my friends for Frostgrave is that we each bring over so many “creatures” for the game. We then combine the collection and essentially make our own encounter list from those figures. I anticipate doing the same for Stargrave.

For those that have played Stargrave’s predecessor, Frostgrave, the game will feel immediately familiar. Assemble a crew of ten intrepid adventurers, embark upon loot-snatching sorties in competitive two-player battles, and play through a series of interlinked scenarios across a persistent campaign – all the while levelling up your crew, and recruiting replacements for those who meet the nasty end of a carbine. Inspiration doesn’t have to come from sci-fi, and when someone suggested this idea to me it absolutely had to be included. The nine members of the fellowship from The Lord of the Rings…. but in space! I was enraptured with the crazy hodge-podge of sci-fi trappings, only to be disappointed at how little they really mattered. Yes the game isn’t onlya re-skin of Frostgrave, but one must question how much its thematic change really matters. This post is all about assembling your crew for Stargrave. I am not sure about you, but whenever I get a new rulebook, I like to flip through it to see how it will work with the minis I already own. In this post, I planned to tell you exactly what type of Captains and First Mates you can build for this game. On top of that, I intended to inform you on what type of figures you could expect to use for the game.Stargrave, with its focus on skirmishes and miniatures-agnostic rule system, can’t match its (admittedly ambitious) lore. A chunky leveling system aside, much of the world-building that so enticed me when reading the core rulebook, failed to make an impression on the tabletop. It seems like 3d printing is going to solve my problem, there are fantastic models available on myminifactory for instance. I didn’t really want to open that can of worms, but sounds like it really is the best option for me. have nearly finished a big project with Modiphius that will hopefully be announced soon. I have also been working on something much smaller, which I intended to self-publish, that looks at the game from a completely different angle… arm swaps between Stargrave troopers and Medge Broken work fine, although hand size/sculpting is noticeably different so both arms from one kit works best (or swapping out the hand)
