When he finds Aelin, he immediately softens. He wants to help Aelin, but she doesn't let him. Slowly, he sees Aelin wanting to be close to him again. They have a talk about their relationship after Aelin finds two wedding rings for them to wear. The conversation ends in them having sex and giving new claiming marks to each other - due to Aelin's being removed. Manon still hasn’t made the Crossing with Abraxos, but her grandmother forces her to. Abraxos listens to her grandmother being an asshole to Manon and he gets very protective, and ready to prove a point, and so they finally fly and they are glorious. When Aelin came to Wendlyn to train, it was again Maeve who ensured Rowan would be the one to train her, but she did not realize that she had broken him so much that he did not even recognize his own mate. Following this huge revelation, Aelin is whipped by Carin and forced into an iron coffin. Rowan is distraught and reveals that they had married the night before. He leaves to hunt down Maeve and free his mate and wife. Manon doesn’t want any of the humans around Abraxos, because he’s scared of them. She gets all of Abraxos’s broken teeth and spikes replaced by iron ones, like hers. The only problem is that his wings aren’t ready for flying.
