About this deal

Thanks Curtis! Appreciate this! Indeed exactly what I am looking for: an all-round lens that can make great portraits (I generally prefer half or full body) and that gives excellent across the frame sharpness stopped down.

TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 review – is this ‘the’ Noctilux for TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 review – is this ‘the’ Noctilux for

The TTArtisan is basically a mini TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95. They have repeated this relatively new design again for the 35mm f/0.95 with its silver-colored chiseled-out groves on the focus ring and aperture rings. TTArtisan is a brand doing pretty well with its releases, and I look forward to seeing its future releases for both Leica M mount and Fujifilm X-mount. I have never used this lens personally, mainly due to it being roughly 12 grand. I have seen some comparisons online between this Leica lens and the TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 though, where the TTArtisan looked indeed better. I would still expect the Leica lens to do better in certain scenarios but I cannot compare these lenses personally due to reasons mentioned above.Compared to the mentioned Leica Noctilux and Voigtlander Nokton fast 50mm lenses I feel the TTArtisan lens offers great value for money. The 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 is not replacing my Fujifilm choice at 35mm. Nor would I buy this before I already had one of the Fujifilm 35mm lenses. After testing the much-vaulted XF50mm ƒ1 (my review here), I have learned to understand that the toughest part of lens design in these super-fast lenses is whether the manufacturer can design them for optimum performance wide open. The XF50mm at ƒ1.0, for example, though exceedingly sharp, exhibited some chromatic aberration issues wide open, which I must emphasize here is perfectly expected for a lens that is so fast. I’ve been looking at 7Artisans’ and TTArtisan’s 50mm 0.95 but can’t decide which one to go ahead with, as both do have purple fringing and chromatic aberrations. I have 7Artisans 50mm f/0.95 lens, and I can tell you it seems even a tad brighter than my Mitakon 35mm f/0.95, and that one is pretty much considered to be as advertised, so I would assume 7Artisans is in the ballpark as well.

TTArtisan 35mm 0.95 Review - Not Just for Bokeh!

From what I've read, the Meike is virtually identical to the 7A - dimensions, weight, optical formula. So I suspect performance would be about the same.. At half body portrait distance (roughly 1.2 to 1.5 m focus distance) the lens generally worked best for me, as it seems to be optimized for these distances. So sharpness and contrast are good enough, bokeh is smooth and undistracting. Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 Sony A7rII | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 You are mixing up optical vignetting (ovalized bokeh towards the corners) and mechanical vignetting (shape of highlights stopped down due to aperture diaphragm construction) which makes it really hard to answer your question. And look at the market now, thanks to 7Artisans, TTArtisan, Pergear - there are lots of lens options at a fraction cost of Fuji XF 35mm F1.4. This review is largely responsible for this decision, so I thought I would share some of my thoughts. The lens seems to deal with point light sources at night a bit better than the Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 E though and also seems to have significantly less issues with internal reflections. Sony A7rII | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 Coma Here are 2 sample images to show difference between f0.95 to f1.4, at 1.5m subject distance (ie portrait distance) crops from center, A7rII, b ecause of focus shift (see corresponding section) I refocused for every shot.

TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 Review and Gallery - DustinAbbott.net

You’ll benefit from pairing this lens with a camera with a fast top shutter speed and a Neutral Density filter, as it will allow you to use the lens wide open in brighter conditions, should you so choose. I didn’t use an ND filter with the TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95, and whenever I was walking in the sun and unable to access the magic sauce of wider apertures, I did find myself questioning my life choices. I have tried the TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 on the APS-C Leica CL mirrorless camera via a Leica M-L adapter. With the crop factor it gives a 75mm equivalent focal length. I much prefer to use the lens on full frame cameras as a crop sensor camera cuts off all the nice imperfections and edge defects. TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 + Leica CL For those that can live without having an f/0.95 lens the Voigtlander VM 50mm 1.2 might be the more compelling option here, too. At 8.7 oz, 247 g, the TTArtisan 35mm f/0.95 is lighter and more compact than the 50mm f/0.95 which is 14.5 oz, 411 g. It is also only two-thirds of the weight of the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95. IQ wise, it is very good.. Images just seems to have a high clarity and "pop". When a mint 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 popped up on our local used camera ‘buy and sell’ I could not resist. When the light fades and exposure demands it, the maximum aperture of f/0.95 just shines. Detail, punchy contrast and rich colours are all possible here, but also with a bit of glow (spherical aberration). This makes it ideal for portraits in moody ambient lighting.
