I carefully cut the central support out and discarded it; this allowed me to push the wires back into the pattress and the programmer to fully locate on the backplate. As others have said, it’s an easy replacement for an existing Potterton programmer with no wiring or plumbing to worry about, providing your existing backplate is undamaged, which it most likely will be. Both of these views turned out to be misleading, probably only true of you don't take the time to set it up for your needs, as per installer guide. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. However, I tried to switch on the CH recently after not being used for several months and it fails to trigger the boiler to put the CH on.

When slider is moved over to set all seven days appear on the top of the screen and I cannot just get to individual days of the week. Strictly I should have released it by pushing a screwdriver into the rectangular slot at the bottom right of the case first, but didn't see it at the time. Keep hitting the Yes button to go forward after the times have been set up but do not seem to get the actual day of the week to set up for Sat and Sun. One note however, the EP2 face plate has a tiny screw on the lower edge that is screwed in from the underside to really lock the faceplate in position. Some say that it's an ideal direct replacement and that it works seamlessly with their existing boiler.You can select 2 or 3 on/off cycles per day, weekday/ weekend, heating and or hot water on, or individual days can all be selected.

Be aware that the display is difficult to read from below, especially in poor or artificial light, avoid having to look up at the programmer. We took off front cover of old one there was wiring underneath god we thought we would have to redo wiring but we didn’t the cover off new one just pushed in and straight away the boiler fired up. Independent or linked refers to the selection of hot water or heating; independent means it’s possible to have the hot water and heating coming on at differing times, linked means both hot water and heating will come on together.Will have another go later tonight but have left the on and off times for all seven days of the week. Probably a simple press of the button to get days but nothing as obvious in the brief instructions compared with the EP6000 leaflet which went through the whole routine step by step. The instructions look a bit daunting, but all you really need to do is to set the programmer for your preferred time sequence. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

The new one has the same contacts into the existing terminals on the backplate - there is also a new backplate provided if you need one, but my old one looked fine so I simply pulled out the battery protection tab, snapped the new programmer back onto the old backplate, switched it on and started programming it according to the instructions. The Potterton EP2 is a heating system programmer designed and manufactured by Potterton, a well-known brand in the heating and boiler industry. A negative review here said it couldn't do what it claimed - at most complex this is 7 day, 3 on/offs per day, each day different time settings, and HW and CH can have independent times. A direct replacement for my old worn out EP2002, easy to remove, simply pop a flat screwdriver into the small slot underneath and lever upwards.
